If not, we typically install a small dedicated mini consumer unit alongside it keeping everything compliant without the cost of a full board upgrade. Most UK homes have a single-phase electricity supply, which means a 7kW charger is the standard option — and for the majority of drivers, it’s all you need. A full charge overnight is achievable with most EVs. A 22kW charger requires a three-phase supply, which is more common in commercial buildings. It also requires your vehicle to support faster AC charging, which many don’t. We’ll advise you on the right option for your property during the survey.
